Steps for a Good Pedicure at Home

  • Remove: The first step is to remove any old nail polish you have on your toe nails. Use a acetone free nail polish remover and wipe out your old polish completely.
  • Soak: Take a large plastic bowl in which you can immerse your feet completely. Fill it half way with warm water. Add a few drops of soap or shampoo or any commercial foot soak. Add some Epsom salt and if you would like a few drop of essential oil like lavender or your favorite scent to relax you. Peppermint oil works well if you have smelly feet. Soak your feet in this water for 15-20 minutes.
  • Scrub:Use a pumice stone to scrub down rough areas. Use a commercial foot scrub or ground oatmeal and scrub down your feet thoroughly. Wash your feet thoroughly with warm water and pat dry. This will help remove all dead cells and debris from your feet leaving it soft and smooth.
  • Clip: The next step is to cut and clip your toenails. File your toenails to smooth out any rough edges.
  • Cuticles: Apply a cuticle softener and wait for a minute. Then push back your cuticles gently.
  • Massage: Massage your feet with a rich moisturizing foot cream or oil covering all nooks and crannies. Gently apply pressure at the bottom of the feet and fingers which will help you relax.
  • Prep: If you are going to apply polish on your toe nails, wipe out any cream or oil on your toe nails.
  • Base Coat: Apply a layer of base coat on your nails. Allow it to dry.
  • Nail Polish: Follow this with your favorite color of nail polish. Apply polish from the bottom of your nails to the tip. Allow it to dry. Add another of polish and dry it completely.
  • Clean: Take a Q-tip and dip it in nail polish remover and remove any polish from areas outside your nails.
  • Clear Coat: Finish off with a clear coat.

Enjoy your beautifully smooth and gorgeous feet!
